Hendrik Kapp: The Rig That Has Never Let Me Down

The Blowback Rig is a Rig that has been around for many years and has great Rig Mechanics; however, there's still a lot of anglers who ties it incorrectly. Hopefully this article will help show anglers how to correctly tie the Blowback Rig.

Start by cutting off about 25cm of the Coated Hooklink.

Strip off about 8cm to 10cm of the coating from the Hooklink.

Go ahead and tie a simple overhand knot on the stripped off section of the Hooklink. This makes it possible for you to add your hookbait to the Rig.

Go ahead and add your favorite hookbait using your Baiting Needle and a piece of the Hair Extender Stops. The main reason for adding the hookbait this early on is to find the exact length needed for the hair.

Make a simple loop below the hookbait.

Slide the Rig Ring over the loop and make a simple overhand knot.

It is really important that you don't make the overhand knot too tight at this stage, because you will still need to find the exact distance you need the Rig Ring to be below your hookbait. 0.5cm is usually a good distance.

Go ahead and tighten the overhand knot once you are happy with the placement of your Rig Ring.

Measure the length and adjust the distance of the Rig Ring if you're not happy with where the Rig Ring sits on the bend of the Hook.

Once you're happy with the length and how the Rig Ring sits on the bend of the Hook, go ahead and secure the knot in place by making one more overhand knot on the Rig Ring.

Now go ahead and create a knotless knot on the Hook to finish the Rig.
