The only bottom bait Rig you will ever need to use

The only bottom bait Rig you will ever need to use

The KD Rig has proven over and over again that it is a phenomenal Rig to use, especially when you're fishing with balanced or bottom hookbaits. The process of tying the KD Rig is so simply, once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to tie a number of Rigs in minutes.

There is a catch to the Rig that a lot of anglers unfortunately do not take into consideration and it greatly affects the Rig Mechanics. We'll go over this easy to miss step later in the article.

HOW TO TIE THE KD RIG

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Start off by cutting off about 30cm of Coated Hooklink and trim off quite a bit of the coating (10cm to 15cm).

Tie a small overhand knot on the exposed braid. This will be used to keep the Boilie Stop in place, securing your hookbait.

Add your favorite hookbait before adding the Hook. This will ensure that the length of the hair is long enough.

Go ahead and add your Hook. The hookbait shouldn't be too long, a couple of millimeters from the hook will be perfect.

Start tying a knotless knot, but wrap the uncoated section of the Coated Hooklink around the hook 2 or 3 times. (Don't finish the knot just yet.)

Here's the important step we mentioned earlier. Flip your hookbait over and continue to wrap around the Hook on the other side of the hair 2 or 3 more times.

Now you can finish the knotless knot. Doing this will ensure the hook stands proud when a fish picks up the hookbait, ensuring the perfect hookset almost every time.

Finally, add an Anti Tangle Sleeve to your Rig and tie a figure of 8 loop knot to finish the Rig.
