The Slip D Rig is an old time favorite with a couple of varieties which we'll have cover in future posts. The Slip D-Rig Definitely falls in the category of one of our favorite Rigs when fishing with balanced bottom baits or wafters, simply because of its simplicity and clean finish. The Rig is tied with Semi Stiff Coated Hooklink, followed by a small Kicker or some Shrink Tubing at the end of the hook, making it more aggressive.
The softer Hooklink gives movement to the hookbait, allowing the Rig to hook the carps mouth easier. The hookbait can be tied to a Micro Rig Swivel, Ring or Bait Screw depending on the hookbait you prefer. We like to keep things simple and allow variety on a single Rig, so we decided to go with a Micro Rig Swivel.

HOW THE RIG IS TIED
Start off by splicing about 10cm from the Coated Hooklink. This is the section that will be used to tie the Slip D to the Hook.
Thread one part of the hooklink through one eye of the Micro Rig Swivel and make your way back the same eye again to create a loop on the end of the swivel.
Put the shank of the hook through the loop and move the Micro Rig Swivel closer to the point of the hook.
Thread both points of the hooklink through the eye of the hook. This will create the Slip D were after.
Create a knotless knot by twisting the longer end 3 to 4 times around the hook and then threading the point through the eye of the hook one last time.
This should now secure the 'D' in place, allowing you to cut of the tag ends, since we won't be using that anymore.
Add about 1cm to 2cm of Shrink Tube to the eye of the hook.
Carefully use a lighter to shrink the tubing in place, without damaging the Rig.
This should form a kicker around the eye of the hook, which will make the Rig much more aggressive.
Create a loop knot on the other end of the Rig and secure it all in place by tightening everything down.
Take your critically balanced bait and attach it to the Micro Rig Swivel using some bait floss and a lighter.
The Slip D Rig allows for a lot of movement, allowing the bait to blow up in a carps mouth when the bait is sucked up.
